Artist's Statement

When I am making photographs I’m open and aware, I feel completely alive. Sights take on dimension and meaning as shades of gray color my world. Light transforms simple objects into forms of enchantment. Scenes present themselves and I photograph them, gratefully losing myself within time. I appreciate each new subject on its own level and attempt to embrace individual and unique characteristics in an effort to let the essence of the subject unfold.
I continue to be intrigued with the power and meaning of isolating a moment of time. Currently I am working with a Hasselblad xpan. I’m enamored with its elongated format: a silver sliver manifest. At the moment, my lens gravitates to people and places.
